Resumen
La autora aborda la relación entre el performance y el espacio exterior en México a partir de obras realizadas por los artistas Nahum y Juan José Díaz Infante. Ellos crean imaginarios espaciales desde el arte y la ciudadanía que producen efectos de maravilla, conexión y extrañamiento en sus públicos. Se argumenta que el objetivo de estos artistas es “cambiar la conversación” del debate sobre el espacio exterior y visibilizar alternativas a los futuros proyectados desde los centros hegemónicos de las carreras espaciales.
Changing the Conversation: Astronoethics, Performance and the Off-Modern in Mexico
Abstract
This article addresses the relation between performance and outer space in Mexico, focusing on the work of the artists Nahum and Juan José Díaz Infante, who create space imaginaries by means of art and citizenship. Their work aims to produce effects of wonder, connection, and estrangement in their audiences. By doing so, the author argues they both aim to “change the conversation” of the debate around outer space and bring up alternatives to the futures projected from the hegemonic centers of the space race.
